Additional Information

MATTRESS SUPPORT

To ensure optimal performance and longevity, your wool mattress should rest on a supportive and breathable foundation. We recommend using solid wooden slats spaced no more than 2" (5 cm) apart.

Wider spacing may allow the mattress to sag between slats, leading to uneven compression over time. A flat, solid surface is also suitable, though we advise rotating the mattress regularly to allow for ventilation, as solid platforms and box springs may restrict airflow.

WOOL COMPRESSION

Wool naturally compresses with use — typically by 10–15% in the first few months. To accommodate this, each wool mattress is intentionally overfilled and may appear slightly thicker upon arrival. With regular use, it will settle to its intended height.

To maintain an even and supportive surface:

  • Use the entire mattress area to promote uniform compression.
  • Rotate and flip the mattress weekly during the initial months, then every 3–4 weeks thereafter.
  • For shared beds, occasional use of the center area is recommended to prevent raised or uneven zones.

FAQ

WHAT CERTIFICATIONS DOES YOUR WOOL MATTRESS HAVE?

No flame retardants. No added VOC treatments. No off-gassing coatings.

We use certified natural materials throughout the mattress:

  • Wool filling: OEKO-TEX Certified (tested for harmful substances)
  • Cover options: GOTS-certified organic cotton, OEKO-TEX certified linen, or OEKO-TEX certified virgin wool fabric

These certifications help ensure your mattress is made with carefully sourced materials that are safe, breathable, and a great choice for babies, kids, and anyone sensitive to chemicals.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOTS AND OEKO-TEX®?

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the leading certification for organic textiles, ensuring that materials are organically grown, processed without harmful chemicals, and meet strict environmental and social criteria throughout the entire supply chain.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, on the other hand, certifies that a material has been tested for harmful substances and is safe for direct contact with skin, even if it’s not organic. It focuses more on the end-product safety rather than the farming or processing methods.

WHAT KIND OF BED BASE WORKS BEST WITH A WOOL MATTRESS?

A firm, flat surface provides the best support for a wool mattress — this includes platform beds, box springs, and adjustable bed bases. If you’re using a slatted base, make sure the slats are no more than 2" (5 cm) apart. Wider gaps may cause the mattress to sag over time and affect both comfort and durability.

CAN I USE THIS MATTRESS ON THE FLOOR?

Yes, our wool mattress can be used on the floor, though we recommend it only for short-term use. Since wool needs airflow to stay fresh, be sure to lift and air out the mattress regularly. For best results and longevity, a slatted wooden base is ideal.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SLEEPING ON A WOOL MATTRESS?

Sleeping on an organic wool mattress offers natural comfort, breathability, and peace of mind. Wool naturally regulates temperature, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer, while its moisture-wicking and hypoallergenic properties help create a dry, fresh sleep environment. Organic wool is also free from synthetic chemicals and flame retardants, making it a healthier, more sustainable choice for your body and the planet.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE AND SHIP A MATTRESS?

Each mattress is handcrafted to order and takes 7–10 business days to make. Free delivery ships via FedEx Economy and arrives in 7–10 business days. If you need it sooner, FedEx Express is available at checkout for an additional cost and delivers in 3–5 days.

HOW DO I CANCEL MY ORDER?

If you need to cancel your order, please email us at contact@woollux.com with your order number as soon as possible. Since each mattress is made to order, cancellations are only possible before production begins.

IS WOOL FIRE RETARDANT?

Yes. Wool is naturally resistant to flames, which makes it a safe and practical material for mattresses and bedding.
